Much like the intro to ski touring, we want babes who ride to have the same education and opportunity to feel more comfortable and confident in the backcountry. Gathering at RMR with our backcountry gear, we will head up the gondola and into the slackcountry to learn about equipment, touring techniques and terrain management with one of our incredibly talented ACMG guides. This camp also includes all the necessary lift tickets and instruction, but all participants must come with their own packed lunch, splitboard, boots and skins, as well as a backpack that includes an avalanche transceiver, probe, and shovel. It is mandatory that participants are confident with their downhill snowboarding ability (advanced or expert) to maintain a safe environment and to ensure that you get the most out of the camp. However, it is absolutely okay if you have never been touring before or never put on skins; that’s what we're here for and we can't wait to help you get out there!
Note: this is not an AST Level 1 course. You will not receive any certification as part of this camp. We recommend taking an AST 1 Course either before or after the course to strengthen your backcountry knowledge.
