  • Hakuba Valley Japan (map)

We're headed back to the land of powder and ramen with our friends at Whitecap Alpine for a week of backcountry exploring on January 5-12th. The camp will be based in Hakuba, right in the middle of the Japanese Alps. Explore the stashes with our ACMG guide as well as GDS founder, Leah Evans. Our team is committed to helping you achieve your backcountry goals. Not only will we take you to the best lines in the Hakuba backcountry, but we also have the scoop on the best ramen, sushi, and hot springs in town.

Japan is a place where the snowbanks grow like chia pets, ramen becomes your favorite apres ski meal, and bathing in onsens rejuvenates the soul.

We’ve partnered with Whitecap Alpine, the ACMG guiding experts in Hakuba, Japan, to lead us to all the secret local spots. The Hakuba Valley is stocked with 10 different resorts that we’ll have access to including Tsugaike-Kogen, Norikura, Cortina, Happo-one, Hakuba 47, and Goryu… plus a couple of secret ones ;). Our very own Girls Do Ski founder and professional skier, Leah Evans, will be your private coach.

The camp will be open to six guests only, making the experience personal, educational, comfortable, and a total blast. We will guide you through local Japanese customs, making sure that we stop to enjoy the beautiful things the country has to offer on and off the snow. We will also have our own private accommodation and 4WD van to make accessing the pow as easy as can be.

As a quick recap, here’s what you can expect… unbelievable terrain, huge dumps of pow, a unique cultural experience, some of the best snow conditions on Earth, and the trip of a lifetime.

Getting There

As airfare is not included in our package, we will let you book flights that work for you. Once you’ve landed, we will have a shuttle ($165 CAD). It will take about 5 hours to get to our private chalet, so you will have some time to take in the sights of Japan or catch up on some sleep. Because we never like going the same way we came, you will return via the bullet train ($90 CAD).
